Myths and Misconceptions about Low Back Pain - Part 3

Myths and Misconceptions about Low Back Pain - Part 3

I’m this 3 part series of blog posts, we will uncover 3 common misconceptions about low back pain and how to treat it. Let’s get into part 3!

Myth #3

Physical therapy will make my pain worse.”

If you're suffering from low back pain, you may be tempted to rest in bed until it goes away. However, this can often make your pain worse in the long run. Resting is just a short term, not a long-term solution. In fact, prolonged sitting and bed rest can lead to muscle weakness, joint stiffness, and a slower recovery time.

Physical therapy, on the other hand, is a highly effective treatment option for low back pain. A physical therapist can work with you to develop a personalized treatment plan that includes exercises to improve flexibility, strength, and range of motion to target your low back pain. They may also use modalities like heat or ice therapy, massage, or electrical stimulation to alleviate pain and discomfort in the low back.

Physical therapy can help reduce low back pain, improve function, and prevent future injuries. By addressing the underlying cause of your low back pain, physical therapy can help you get back to your daily activities and improve your overall quality of life.
